Meet the Birthsmarter Advisory Board!
Monday, March 24, 2025
Ready to be impressed? We are thrilled to formally introduce our Advisory Board!
At Birthsmarter, we’ve always believed that better childbirth education leads to healthier families and stronger communities. Since our founding, we’ve been committed to providing evidence-based, inclusive, and practical education that meets the real needs of modern parents. Today, we’re thrilled to take another step forward by introducing our inaugural Birthsmarter Advisory Board—a group of experts dedicated to improving the landscape of perinatal education and care.
Why an Advisory Board?
Childbirth education doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s deeply connected to the larger systems of healthcare, public health, and community support. To continue growing in a way that best serves families, we want to stay rooted in evidence-based practices and meaningful collaborations with providers working on behalf of parents and babies every day. Our advisory board will help us do just that—offering guidance, sharing insights from the front lines, and opening doors to new opportunities for growth and impact.
At the same time, these incredible advisors have joined us because they believe in our mission. They see firsthand how many families are navigating pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood without adequate preparation or support. They know the difference that high-quality education can make, and they want to be part of the solution.
Meet Our Advisors
Each of our advisors brings a unique perspective, blending clinical expertise, research, advocacy, and hands-on experience in perinatal care. Here’s a glimpse at the professionals who will be guiding us:
Dr. Tameeka Law Walker, OBGYN, MFM is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a member of the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the National Medical Association. She served as the Medical Student Clinical Site Director for the OB-GYN department at Walter Reed.
Dr. Marina Capella is the owner of Healing Arts Pediatrics in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is board certified in both general pediatrics and integrative medicine and loves bringing together the best of conventional Western medicine with other healing traditions, including herbalism and mind-body modalities like massage and hypnosis.
Tanya Tringali, MS, CNM, FACNM has been a CNM since 2007 and has worked in a variety of settings in the US and abroad. She is currently adjunct faculty at NYU and Georgetown University in addition to being a NASM certified personal trainer, CrossFit L2 coach, and Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism coach. Tanya is deeply invested in improving healthcare systems and organizations in the US and abroad.
Looking Ahead
We’re excited to learn from our advisors and apply their expertise to strengthen our curriculum, expand our reach, and deepen our relationships with the providers and communities we serve. This collaboration marks an important milestone in our journey—and we know that with their guidance, we’ll be able to support even more families with the education and resources they need.
Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this next phase of Birthsmarter’s growth. And if you’re as excited as we are about making high-quality childbirth education more accessible, we’d love for you to be part of the conversation.
